This morning - commute time. I didn't cut the driver in the lane next to me off, but man, did she ever lay into the horn. I am on a small looking scooter, which incidentally will travel at 65mph no problem and accelerates at nearly the same rate as her Honda Accord, and she apparently thinks she owns the road more than I do. There was a good car & a half length between her and the car in front of her. I sped up to give myself plenty of room in front of her, stuck my arm out to signal (old Italian bikes don't have signals), looked twice like I always do, then merged when it looked safe. She honked for a good 35 seconds, then when I went into the far left lane over to make the left turn she honked for 15 seconds more as she floored it and flipped me off. It isn't like she missed a single second off her commute time just for me to merge into the lane in front of her. I didn't slow down, I sped up and kept it up. WHAT IS WRONG with people in this city? So many people, *it seems*, would rather you not merge in front of them - when they see you signal, they speed up instead of give an inch. IT SUCKS. Thanks for letting me rant.
